Many itineraries in nature can be easily reached from our hotel. Some of them have a value solely for practising sports, others mark some spiritual passages of this land. An example of this is the path of San Benedetto that from Norcia reaches Montecassino, Cascia is one of its intermediate stages, but also the walk in the woods leading from Cascia to the other symbol of St. Rita: Roccaporena. This last walk is rather easy and is very convenient for hotel guests, since the starting point is adjacent to the hotel’s parking lot.
Descending south along the Valnerina, not so far away from Cascia, you can reach an iconic site: the Marmore Falls. With a jump of over 150 metres, the Velino River plunges into the gorge of the Nera River, creating one of the most intense and powerful spectacles of the splendid valley.
Another place easily reachable from Cascia is on par with that: the Castelluccio plateau. Famous for its flowering, the plain is a vast plateau within a natural cavea on which the imposing Mount Vettore overlooks. The latter is part of the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains, a destination for lovers of walking, hiking and nature in general. Crossing these large areas of pristine nature you will really understand why Umbria is called the green heart of Italy.
